LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - Good evening Texoma! Sunday will be a quiet weather day across Texoma as temperatures will cool down slightly across the area. Morning temperatures will start in the mid-70s around sunrise, and afternoon temperatures will climb into the low 100s. Skies will be mostly sunny during the day with south winds at 5 to 15 mph.
Local hospitals dealing with heat-related illnesses as summer rages on
SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - As record-setting heat continues to scorch Texoma, local hospitals say they’re keeping busy treating patients with heat-related illnesses. ”Especially this year with the temperatures exceeding 100 degrees pretty consistently, we’ve been seeing maybe four or five patients a day with heat related illnesses,” Sherman Medical Center’s Chief Medical Officer James Frame said. “Then of course, we’ve seen two heat strokes this year.”

GUNTER, Texas (KXII) - Firefighters from five different Texoma cities raced to Gunter on Friday afternoon to put out a grass fire that caught in a dangerous spot. Crews from Gunter, Collinsville, Celina, Van Alstyne, and Tioga all converged on an empty field where a mower nicked a rock and sparked a blaze that came within a stone’s throw of a Gunter neighborhood and a construction site.
