Arts town hall meeting to focus on workforce housing for creatives
Arkansans for the Arts, a statewide arts advocacy nonprofit, is hosting a town hall meeting in Northwest Arkansas as part of its four-city tour. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 26 at The Medium, located at 214 S. Main St. in Springdale. The meeting will focus on workforce housing for artists, creatives, and arts workers in the region.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Over the past week, there have been a few showers around the Mid-South, in which, a lot of cloud coverage has engulfed the region, too. The cloud coverage, few showers and cool temperatures that we have experienced lately is due to a stationary front that hasn’t moved a whole heck of a lot over the past week. This stationary front hasn’t even weakened all that much, and continues to dump some pretty heavy rain totals over parts of Texas and Louisiana. For the Mid-South, specifically, the stationary front did take a little bit of a jog to the south on Wednesday, which kept the shower activity slightly further south than I anticipate. Nonetheless, there have been a few showers around the Mid-South over the past few days, and until this stationary front completely clears out, the threat of showers will stay elevated.

HARRISON, Ark. (KY3) - A Boone County deputy shared his side of a shooting encounter with a murder suspect out of Maine that happened in December. It happened on December 30. Officers in Flippin, Arkansas, made contact with a person asleep in his car at church. That person handed over his driver’s license, and law enforcement discovered that Spridal P. Hubiak of Waterville, Maine, was wanted for a murder in that state. A chase followed through Marion County and into Boone County. The chance ended in the town of Bellefonte after Deputy Tyler Nichols attempted a pit maneuver, and Hubiak crashed his vehicle into a gas pump at a truck stop.
