The mid-Hudson Valley is in for another sunny week, even more so than last.

There is no precipitation in sight for the Poughkeepsie or Middletown areas this week from Tuesday through Sunday, according to Lead Meteorologist Brian Frugis of the Albany National Weather Service Office and Meteorologist James Tomasini of the New York National Weather Service Office .

If you're looking forward to cooler weather with fall on the way, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday all are expected to have seasonably cool temperatures in the 70s. The low temperatures for each night are predicted to be fairly low too.

Read on for the forecasts for Aug. 20-23, as well as what you can expect for this weekend.

Forecast for Poughkeepsie: Aug. 20-23, plus weekend brief

Starting Tuesday, the week is looking clear, with no threats for any rain or thunderstorms in sight, even though there's usually always a chance for pop-up storms in the afternoon this time of year. "It's looking like we'll have dry weather for most of the week, if not the entire week," Frugis said.

Those planning on going to the Dutchess County Fair this week have their pick of days to go, the only difference is toward the end of this week, when it's predicted to be slightly hotter.

"If anybody's going to the fair, it might be on the cooler side if people are visiting in the evening, and they probably will want to bring a sweatshirt or jacket," Frugis said.

Temperatures at the beginning of this week are on the cooler end, with Tuesday and Wednesday expected to be in the low 70s. Tuesday is expected to have mostly sunny skies, and Wednesday will have sunny skies. "We have a cold front coming through Monday, and that will bring a much cooler air mass in for the midweek," Frugis said.

The humidity for these two days is looking to be on the lower end as well.

Frugis said each day after Wednesday it will get a bit warmer, as the cool air mass departs. Thursday is predicted to have high temperatures around the mid-70s.

As the temperatures rise during the week, so will the humidity, but nothing to the point of being oppressive. "It looks like most of the week should be pretty comfortable with fairly low dew points," Frugis said.

Friday the temperatures shoot back up into the 80s with sunny skies, and the trend of increasing temperatures continues into the weekend, with Saturday looking to be in the low 80s and Sunday in the mid 80s. Mostly sunny skies are in store for this weekend too.

By Saturday and Sunday, it may feel slightly muggier, but again, nothing too intense, Frugis said.

Additionally, the lows for overnight each day are anticipated to be consistent with the high temperatures, with low temperatures around 60 degrees as we progress toward the weekend. For Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night, expect the low temperatures to be as cool as the low 50s.

Forecast for Middletown: Aug. 20-23, plus weekend brief

"It actually looks like we'll have a dry period coming up in our forecast," Tomasini said. "We don't have any chances of rain from Tuesday through the weekend."

The Middletown area is predicted to have similar weather to Poughkeepsie, with seasonably cool temperatures. High temperatures Tuesday are at 70 degrees, Wednesday at 71 degrees and Thursday at 74 degrees. Tuesday is anticipated to be mostly sunny, with Wednesday and Thursday anticipated to be sunny.

The cold front coming through will help with the humidity, keeping it at the lower end for the Middletown area for majority of the week, with it increasing as the weekend comes through. Tomasini said even with the increased humidity, it'll still be lower than what the Middletown area has seen this summer.

On Friday temperatures do increase to the low 80s, "and that continues through Sunday with highs in the low-to-mid 80s," Tomasini said.

Friday and through this weekend, expect mostly sunny skies.

Lastly, the low temperatures for this week are forecasted to consistently stay in the 50s besides Wednesday night, when it's predicted to be as low as 49 degrees.
