As we approached the midway point of the regular season last week, some dominant teams began to separate themselves from the pack, and a few upstarts continue to ascend. Likewise for the individual athletes, who've continued to put forth notable performances.
Last week's Athlete of the Week winners were Beacon swimming standout Serena Stampleman, who received 14,553 votes to win the large-school poll and Brady Doherty, a rising star on the Dover boys soccer team, who tallied 13,022 votes to claim the small-school title.
Voting will be open until 6 p.m. Saturday. This week's nominees:

Brody Timm, Beacon boys soccer
The senior, who is typically a defensive maven, scored three goals to lead the Bulldogs in a 4-0 win over Liberty.

Sanaiya Whitted, Roosevelt volleyball
She had 24 kills, 17 digs and two blocks to lead the Presidents in a back-and-forth five-set win over Red Hook last Friday. The senior also had 12 kills in a sweep of Spackenkill.
Dylan Fay, Ketcham football
He rushed for two touchdowns in the second quarter, the second of which provided the deciding points as the Storm went on to beat White Plains, 48-30, last Friday.
Kait Dwyer, Arlington girls soccer
The senior scored and assisted on the Admirals' first two goals, leading them in an eventual 3-1 win over rival North Rockland last Wednesday.
Diya Biguvu, John Jay volleyball
The senior totaled 35 assists and was efficient in leading the Patriots to three-set sweeps over Clarkstown South and Millbrook last week.
Ike Rothman, Roosevelt boys golf
The senior shot 4-under 32 at Red Hook Golf Club for the Presidents last Tuesday against Red Hook.
Matt Mazzella, Arlington boys soccer
He scored twice, including the go-ahead goal with four minutes left to lead the Admirals in a 4-2 win over Mamaroneck.
Small-school nominees
Joshua Bishop, Highland football
He excelled in all facets of the game, leading the Huskies in a blowout win over Rondout Valley. Bishop returned two punts for touchdowns, had two touchdown receptions including a 74-yard score, and had an interception.
Charlotte Fatigate, Lourdes field hockey
She scored both goals in the Warriors' 2-1 win over Taconic Hills last Monday.
Kaitlin Murphy, Red Hook girls soccer
She scored twice and had an assist, leading the Raiders in a 3-1 win over Marlboro last Thursday. She also had an assist in their 2-0 win over Catskill.
Anna Maiale, New Paltz volleyball
She had 21 kills, 11 digs and six aces to lead the Huguenots in a five-set win over Rondout Valley.
Cadence Koehler, Spackenkill girls soccer
The sophomore had a career-high five assists and scored a goal for the Spartans in a win over Marlboro.
Amelia DelForno, Highland volleyball
She had 28 assists, two aces, 13 digs and three kills for the Huskies in a five-set win over New Paltz last Friday.
Kate Suchowiecki, New Paltz girls swimming
The Central Connecticut State commit took first place in the 100-yard freestyle in a Section 9 tournament-qualifying time of 55.50 seconds at the Watkins Glen Invitational upstate last weekend.
Josh Lewis, Spackenkill football
He had six receptions for 64 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Spartans in a 21-13 win over O'Neill last Friday.
Gianna Natale, Marlboro volleyball
She had 31 assists, two aces and nine digs to lead the Iron Dukes in a five-set win over Spackenkill.
Malana Douglas, New Paltz girls soccer
The senior scored a career-high four goals and added two assists for the Huguenots in a win over Rondout Valley last Tuesday.
Chris DeNatale, Marlboro football
The receiver had four catches for 101 yards and, at defensive back, made six tackles and contributed to a defense that stifled Saugerties in the Iron Dukes' 23-6 win last Saturday.
Katie Skerritt, Lourdes girls swimming
The junior won the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.95) and the 200 individual medley (2:27.04) — both times qualifying for the Section 9 tournament — and was part of the winning 200 medley relay, leading the Warriors in a 94.5-69.5 win over Red Hook last Thursday.
