This week in the Mid-Hudson Valley, expect much more fall-like temperatures in the forecast.

For both the Poughkeepsie and Middletown areas as the week progresses, you can anticipate high and low temperatures to drop too, according to meteorologist Christina Speciale at the National Weather Service Albany Office, and meteorologist James Tomasini at the National Weather Service New York Office.

For the mid-Hudson Valley, our dry streak continues; keep reading on to learn more about what's in store for the weather in the area.

"This week is pretty quiet," Speciale said. "Weather-wise, it will be feeling like fall."

Temperatures will be trending cooler as the week progresses from Tuesday to Thursday, with Thursday anticipated to be the coolest this week. Expect it to be "breezy during the afternoon hours," Speciale said, but nothing hazardous, although the winds combined with the cooler temperatures will certainly make it feel a bit crisp outside.

Tuesday is looking to have some patchy fog in the morning from 7-8 a.m., but otherwise is going to be a mostly sunny day, with the high temperature near 67 degrees. Tuesday into Wednesday, the low temperatures overnight are going to be around 41 degrees.

Wednesday is expected to be sunny and have a high temperature right in the mid 60s, and the low temperature Wednesday into Thursday is similar to the night before at 41 degrees.

Thursday in the Poughkeepsie area should be sunny and reach a high of 62 degrees. However, Speciale mentioned temperatures "probably will be struggling to even get into the low 60s" that day. That night, low temperatures dip down even more into the high 30s, but no frost is expected for the Poughkeepsie area.

Friday, the cooling pattern will start to dissipate, with high temperatures going back up in the mid-to-upper 60s, and sunny skies are expected. Saturday, the trend of increasing temperatures continues, as "high pressure moves overhead," Speciale said, with highs in the mid 70s and sunny skies again.

Speciale mentioned the first half of the weekend is definitely going to be the time for any fall activities, as Sunday cools down a bit into the high 60s.

Forecast for Middletown: Oct. 8-11, plus weekend brief

Tomasini said the Middletown area is continuing to have a "stretch of dry weather, right through the weekend." However, it may be a few degrees cooler this week in Orange County compared to the Poughkeepsie area. There's a slight cooling trend until Thursday too.

Tuesday is starting off with sunny skies and high temperatures near 64 degrees. Tuesday night into Wednesday, the low temperatures drop into the high 30s. Wednesday high temperatures are looking to be in the low 60s, and there is mostly sunny skies expected that day. Similar to the night before, from Wednesday into Thursday, low temperatures go down to 39 degrees.

Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon may both be a bit breezy too, so keep in mind that will most likely make it feel even chiller.

Thursday is the coolest day of the week in Middletown, with temperatures not even predicted to hit 60 degrees. Although, it seems like there will be sunny skies that day. Thursday into Friday is appearing to be the coldest night this week, with the low temperature dipping to the mid-to-upper 30s. There's a small potential for some patchy frost Friday morning.

Friday and Saturday you can look forward to "a couple days of a warming trend," Tomasini said, with Fridays high temperatures at 66 degrees and Saturdays high temperatures near 73 degrees. Both days are predicted to be sunny or mostly sunny, respectively. Sunday cools down slightly, back into the mid 60s.
