The wait is over. Moonrise Bagels , specializing in stuffed bagels, is opening its second location on Saturday.

The first 150 guests at Moonrise Bagels Poughkeepsie, located at 26 Winslow Gate Road, will receive prizes ranging from free menu items, merch and a catered Stuffed Bagel breakfast for 12. The shop will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Moonrise Bagels originated in Woodstock, but the owners, Ali Chetkof and Jeremy Rhodes, decided it was time to expand . The new location, in the Hudson Heritage plaza across from Marist College, will have three times the production space compared to the first spot.

This space will be similar to the first, being primarily takeout and decked out in their signature blue branding, but Moonrise Bagels Poughkeepsie will boast a few more seats for dining in, with a retro-inspired interior, and the menu will be more standardized.

"We worked with Danielle Epstein to design our space, and then Ian Von Miller and Peak Construction brought it all to life," owner Chetkof said in an email response to questions.

This Poughkeepsie bagel shop will be open seven days a week — the original Moonrise is open five days a week. The hours of operation for Moonrise Bagels Poughkeepsie will be 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.

As of February, Moonrise Bagels had sold more than 50,000 stuffed bagels, not just in the Hudson Valley, but nationwide through a service called Goldbelly . Now, Goldbelly ships internationally.

Finalizing the Moonrise Bagels Poughkeepsie space

"The more time we spend in Poughkeepsie, the happier we are to have chosen this space as our second location," Chetkof said.

The couple said they are thrilled to be a part of the Hudson Heritage plaza. While they had their challenges over the past few months getting the Poughkeepsie spot ready, they believe they've been able to build a great team to achieve their vision for this space.

"We know balancing two locations won't be easy," Chetkof said, "but we feel really ready and excited as we have a rock star team in place."

Chetkof said they hired Poughkeepsie native Melanie Studer to be the general manager of the shop, and Chetkof left her other job at the end of February to pursue Moonrise Bagels full time, so she and Rhodes are "able to divide and conquer."
