Verizon users in parts of Lower Hudson Valley reported network outages on Tuesday, according to the company, Downdetector and Dutchess County Emergency Management.

Verizon’s website said data, voice, text and wireless home internet were limited in various locations, and a check of some locations on the site found that users had reported issues in Yorktown Heights, in northern Westchester County, and in Poughkeepsie, in Dutchess County.

A list of most reported locations on Downdetector included Poughkeepsie, Newburgh, Wappingers Falls, and Fishkill.

“There is a known issue in this area and we are working on a solution,” Verizon said on its website.

Customers can check their network status here.

“We are aware of sporadic cell service issues involving Verizon Wireless and are actively monitoring the situation. Please be aware that calling 9-1-1 may be challenging in the affected areas,” Dutchess County Emergency Management said on its Facebook page around mid-day.

Verizon's website said the company was looking into the Peekskill area for a potential network disruption.

Why the problem occurred wasn't immediately known.
