100 Days Until Opening Day at Palisades Tahoe

Palisades Tahoe, California took to social media on August 19th, 2024 to celebrate with their followers. It's officially 100 days until the resort's scheduled opening for the ski season on November 27th, 2024, weather and conditions permitting.

100 days might seem far off in the future, but it will be here before you know it. Even if you're not a Palisades Tahoe skier, don't be surprised when your home ski area announces that they're also 100 days from opening. It creeps up on us fast!

Palisades Tahoe, California's largest ski resort, is coming off a slightly-above average season in terms of total snowfall (423 inches), but it is one that included many ups and downs throughout. Including an on-time but unusually small terrain offering on Opening Day 2023 .

The season got off to a very slow start as warm temperatures and wetter-than-desired precipitation plagued the region throughout December and into early-January. Then, the proverbial switch flipped, and a stormy track rounded out the month of January. February featured its fair share of powder days, but the beginning of March stole the show. Over 108 inches of snow fell on Palisades in seven days shuttering chairlifts from March 1st-March 3rd. The resort reopened on March 4th, but the winds were so strong that nine feet of powder skied more like nine inches, at best. No matter, the spring snowpack had been set, and Palisades remained open with fantastic spring conditions through Memorial Day 2024.
