Wildcat Mountain in New Hampshire recently announced that people will have the opportunity to "own a piece of Wildcat Mountain history," as their summer scenic gondola cabins will be up for auction.

The auction opens Saturday, Sept. 21 and closes on Sunday, Sept. 22. The proceeds benefit the EpicPromise Employee Foundation and Northern Human Services.

Originally from Banff, these cabins served Wildcat during the summer for scenic gondola rides until 2019. Each gondola measures out at approximately 67” W x 66"H x 46"D and approximately 900lbs in weight.

Personally, I have seen them put to great use in their second lives inside of ski bars and the like. Perhaps some billionaire wants one for their balcony—there is no dream too large with these gondolas.

The gondolas cars were used for years each summer and fall. Specifically, chairs were removed and enclosed Gondola cabins were put on the line to operate as a scenic skyride for sightseers when the attraction was operational. The Gondola was New Hampshire's highest 4-person Gondola. Even more interestingly, these gondola cabins were originally from Wildcat's sister resort, Whistler Blackcomb, British Columbia.

Wildcat still operates summer sightseeing chairlift sans gondola cars. Interested individuals can register and bid for a gondola through Wildcat's virtual auction. For those who actually win a gondola, pick-up will be located at Wildcat Mountain. Specific location and instructions will be provided after payment has been fulfilled.

The resort has announced that it will not hold the gondolas, and everyone should ensure they are able to take the gondolas home at the appropriate time, which is Saturday, September 28th, from 10am to 2pm.

Good luck to all of the bidders. May these gondolas fly high in their next phases of duty.
