For years, 4FRNT athlete and ski design mastermind Eric "Hoji' Hjorleifson has been extolling the virtues of reverse-camber ski construction. Take a look at any of the skis he's designed in the last decade or so, and you'll notice a distinct lack of camber underfoot. Today, Hoji and 4FRNT are releasing the newest ski in the touring lineup, called the Nevar, and guess what? There's camber underfoot!

Hoji talks about his inspiration for the new ski in the above social media post, sharing that was approached by many fans of his skis that were looking for a ski with a bit more edge grip and versatility for variable snow conditions in big-mountain terrain. We've always loved the Raven, Hoji, Hoji W, and Renegade skis here at Powder, but also felt they performed best in hero snow and didn't inspire confidence for many skiers when conditions got firm. We're very excited to hop onto a pair of Nevars this early season to test and review the new skis.

"With the NEVAR, our goal was to create a touring ski with excellent performance in a wide variety of snow conditions = Arcing smooth high-speed turns on hard-pack, nimble and responsive in tight terrain, and of course popping airplane turns off pillows in powder. This ski serves as a balance to the Raven and our other reverse cambered skis, hence the name N E V A R (Raven backwards)," says Hoji.

The new Nevar has a very similar platform as the existing Raven, with a 104mm waist, a long 22-meter turn radius, a fairly centered recommended mounting point, and a similar weight at 1820g for the 184cm version. Despite the 3mm of camber underfoot, the tips and tails both still feature that trademark 4FRNT splay, with lots of tip and tail taper. The ski features 4FRNT's innovative 4-Lock skin retention system found on all their other touring skis.

The ski is available now at 4frnt.com
