Powder aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Are you a skier who can’t pass by a good deal? REI is currently having a clearance sale on some of the best skis, ski boots, bindings, ski jackets, and other accessories like goggles, gloves, and backcountry safety gear. We’re talking 30-50 percent off items like the Salomon Shift binding, Nordica Enforcer 100 skis, and brands like Patagonia, Smith, and Mountain Hardwear.

These are some of the best deals you'll find all season on items from last year. We'll let you in on a little secret: for the most part, the only thing that's changed for these items going into 2025 is the color.

The list of on-sale items is extensive, with products available both online and in-store , but here’s a list of 15 of our favorites so you don’t have to spend all day looking at how to update your kit for this season.

    Smith Method MIPS Helmet

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=03phnb_0vjCbaDe00

Keeping your brain protected while on the slopes is undoubtedly very important, and is unfortunately something we see many people skimp out on when on the slopes. Save a couple of bucks without foregoing safety with Smith’s Method MIPS Helmet, which features all the features including MIPS, lightweight Koroyd construction, a self-adjusting fit system, and a shape that integrates cleanly with goggles. This is a helmet many riders on the Smith pro team wear for everything from park to backcountry big-mountain riding, and at under $85 on sale, this is a steal!

    Giro Method VIVID Goggles

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=3wiDIL_0vjCbaDe00

Just like a helmet, proper eyewear is crucial for a fun and safe day on the mountain. The Giro Method (no relation to the helmet, actually) goggles feature Giro’s VIVID lens system that boosts color and contrast in challenging light conditions. This tech improves on-snow vision by manipulating blue light to enhance contrast and definition, all while blocking harmful UV light. The cylindrical shape offers a very large field of view and interchangeable lenses make it easy to swap out on the go. These are currently 40 percent off.

    Salomon Shift MN 13 Bindings

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0QcFka_0vjCbaDe00

Salomon’s Shift MN 13 binding needs no introduction as the game-changer in hybrid alpine touring bindings. Tour up on lightweight and efficient pins, ski down in an alpine binding. If you’re looking for one binding to split even time between the backcountry and the resort, this is the one. With Salomon introducing the SHIFT2 just this year , the older version is on a heavy discount right now at REI, at 30 percent off. This would be a great option to mount onto a pair of backcountry freeride or freetouring skis , and have a setup to ski both the resort and out the gates with this season.

    Patagonia Snowdrifter Bibs - Men’s

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=3hjtBZ_0vjCbaDe00

The jury is out on the pants vs. bibs debate, but if you’re a fan of the latter, look no further than Patagonia’s Snowdrifter Men’s Bibs. These aren’t the thick, crinkly bibs of yesteryear, instead featuring lightweight stretchy fabric that won’t impede your movement on the skintrack or the descent. Though designed with backcountry touring in mind, these would be equally at home in the resort, with heavy duty PFC-free DWR waterproofing and a really good zipper and pocket layout.

    Flylow Lab Coat - Men’s

    Photo&colon REI

As a steady counterpart to the huge brands out there, we’ve always been a fan of Flylow’s independent rebellious attitude in the industry–not to mention their incredibly high-quality ski pants and jackets. The men’s Flylow Lab Coat has been their flagship high-end ski jacket for several years, featuring the most waterproof and breathable eVent fabric and burly construction in the brand’s lineup. Lucky for you, REI has these at 50 percent off right now–that’s an insane deal!

Mountain Hardwear Powder Maven Bibs - Women’s

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0PqVTb_0vjCbaDe00

We reviewed the Mountain Hardwear Powder Maven bibs this past season and our tester was impressed by how warm and comfortable these insulated bibs are, saying, “If you’re someone who values warmth above all else, then the Powder Maven Parka and Bib are worth adding to your wardrobe.” In other words, if you’re looking for a set of bibs to keep the elements out at all costs, look no further than these. With body-mapping insulation around the seat and knees, a well-thought-out pocket layout and a looser freeride fit, these are an excellent choice for all-day mid-winter resort skiing.

    Mountain Hardwear High Exposure Gore-Tex C-Knit Jacket - Women’s

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=13colK_0vjCbaDe00

    Photo&colon REI

Keeping the Mountain Hardwear train going, we’re psyched to see the High Exposure Gore-Tex C-Knit jacket on sale at REI. Both the men’s and women’s version of this have been among our favorite shell jackets over the years, with a mix of excellent breathability and durable waterproofness in a really light and packable package. These are an excellent choice for backcountry skiing on powder days, or to throw over a puffy jacket or warmer mid layer for resort skiing–and they’re 40 percent off at REI, so get some!

    K2 Reckoner 102 Skis

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=2k1osn_0vjCbaDe00

As a freestyle oriented all-mountain ski, K2’s Reckoner 102 not only checks all the boxes of what we’d expect from a ski in that category, it goes above and beyond to make a truly versatile and really fun ski for everyday resort skiing. These are equally at home on groomers, in the park, or hunting for powder stashes in the trees. In fact, we’d consider these a bit of a goldilocks ski, that’s not too stiff or soft, not too wide or narrow, and one that doesn’t lean too heavily in any direction or style. Here’s a review of the skis in our 2025 Gear Guide.

    Rossignol Rallybird 102 Skis - Women’s

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=308zGp_0vjCbaDe00

Since Rossignol released the Rallybird series, we’ve been huge fans of their approach to making women’s all-mountain skis. The Rallybird 102 is the widest in that particular lineup, and features one of the quietest, dampest rides on the mountain, giving you the opportunity to ski fast and effortlessly through variable snow conditions all over the hill. It’s light and nimble, but doesn't shy away from skiing aggressively through bumps, trees, and steeps. In other words, these have been some of the best and most popular women’s all-mountain skis of the last few years, so if you’re looking for a new pair, these would make an excellent choice.

    Nordica Enforcer 100 Skis

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=07IPia_0vjCbaDe00

When it comes to all-mountain high-performance skis, Nordica absolutely nailed it with the Enforcer 100. If you like to ski fast on groomers and off-piste, this is your ski. At 100 underfoot, it’s quick edge to edge, but still provides a large enough platform for stability in variable snow and a little bit of resort powder. Ski faster than your friends, lay trenches on groomers, and charge hard all day long on the Enforcer 100.

Atomic Hawx Prime XTD 120 Crossover Boots

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=3EXwU2_0vjCbaDe00

The Hawx XTD series of boots from Atomic bridges resort and backcountry performance better than most with some of the stiffest and best-skiing boots with a walk mode on the market. The Hawx Prime XTD 120 is a crossover boot designed with a wider 100mm last, perfect for those of us looking for a little extra comfort for wider feet, without giving up any performance or stiffness. It features a 120 flex, Grip Walk sole, tech fittings, a walk mode, four buckles, and Atomic’s high-quality Mimic Platinum heat-moldable liners.

    Scarpa Gea Alpine Touring Boots

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=3rSCjS_0vjCbaDe00

Scarpa’s Gea boots have been a fan-favorite alpine touring boot among women for many years thanks to its clever three-buckle design, super warm and comfortable Intuition liners, and wide 101mm last. These blend uphill and downhill performance perfectly into a boot that’s perfect for just about any day in the backcountry–and stiff enough to ski in the resort as well. It features a 100 flex, an AT sole, tech fittings, a walk mode with a massive 60-degree range of motion, and a fully-customizable Intuition Pro Flex Tour liner.

Tecnica Mach 1 MV 120 Resort Boots

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=1q8kz8_0vjCbaDe00

Tecnica’s Mach 1 line of high-performance resort boots have been around for a few years now, with bootfitters and skiers alike touting their balance of comfort and performance. The Mach 1 MV 120 takes the traditional four-buckle high-performance ski boot and brings it into the future. The spine of the boot features Tecnica’s T-Drive technology which uses a carbon fiber spring insert on the shell to regulate the boot’s flex to keep it consistent no matter the outside temperature. The boot features a medium volume fit, 100mm last, 120 flex, and tons of customization options in both the shell and liner.

BCA Float 32 Avalanche Airbag Pack

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=39ULg9_0vjCbaDe00

Staying safe in the backcountry begins with being prepared with the right gear. The basics are of course an avalanche beacon, shovel, and probe, and an avalanche airbag pack. BCA’s Float 32 pack has been a favorite among staff and readers for its no-nonsense approach to backcountry safety. Featuring the Float 2.0 cylinder system (which needs to be purchased separately), this pack features 32 liters of space for your stuff, a diagonal ski carry system, external helmet carry, radio integration, and a separate pocket for wet gear.

    Ignik Toe Warmers 30 Pack

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=2phyQy_0vjCbaDe00

Here’s a fun fact: getting cold toes while skiing sucks. There are many ways to prevent that from happening, but a tried-and-true method is still the good old-fashioned toe warmer. Even if you’re not a fan of putting these in your ski boots, there are plenty of other uses for Ignik’s multi-use toe warmers: your gloves, in your running shoes on cold days, and many more. These are a great thing to keep in your first aid kit for backcountry skiing as well to use in an emergency. Stock up with a 30 pack of these from REI at 47 percent off.
