I gotta admit, when I wandered through the new PlayGarten at the Bluebird Market in Silverthorne this afternoon with my 20-year-old daughter Mollie, she beamed.

Not at the fact that the video games included Donkey Kong and Ms. Packman (I flipped over those), but Mollie's eyes got huge at the enormous, four-story indoor playground with slides, monkey bars, swings, climbing obstacles and more.

Mollie's 20, but she was still enthralled.

"Holy...." she said, thankfully not finishing off the comment in her junior-level college language.

Yep, if you got kids, this your new base in Silverthorne.

“We are full-time Summit County parents who wanted to create a year-round space to help keep our kids active and get their big energy out, especially on our cold winter days,” said Co-Founder Laura Koepke. “As parents of young children, we also wanted to create a space that parents love as well—a place where both locals and visitors can gather to spend quality time with friends and family.”

Yep. So kid-friendly I nearly asked for a lollypop.

What I like perhaps most about the new PlayGarten is how my friend Julie Dunn (who works in PR), pitched the PlayGarten to me:

"Summit County’s newest multi-attraction indoor children’s play area features an in-house biergarten for parents ." (Emphasis added by me.)

Yes, Julie, with those few words you just made parents everywhere happy. And I'm guessing they'll be lining up in Silverthorne to have fun with both their kids and other parents.

"Attractions at The PlayGarten include a 4-story indoor playground with slides, monkey bars, swings, climbing obstacles and more," notes a statement Julie crafted. "For little ones, the first floor caters to toddlers and crawlers with soft play, fine motor games and a “road” for car and truck play. For bigger kids on the run, The PlayGarten Open Turf area is perfect for open play with soccer and basketball goals.

"The MultiBall Wall is an interactive multi-sport space with 50+ games where the entire family can work up a sweat or compete in trivia or Tetris. The PlayGarten also features arcade games, including pop-a-shot basketball, driving games, Pac-Man, and other classics."

Okay, here's where Julie's PR writing gets really, really good:

"For adults, The PlayGarten’s biergarten offers eight self-serve beer taps and a concession area with canned wine or cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages and family-friendly snacks. Or, the entire family can bring any of Bluebird Market’s delicious, chef-driven meal options into The PlayGarten for a meal mixed with play time."

Anyway, despite my never-ending silliness, the PlayGarten is hosting a Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, June 1st from 3:30 to 8:30 pm. Free and open to all, the event will feature drink tastings, face painting, live music by El Passo Lasso and more. And maybe lots of Donkey Kong and Mrs. Pac Person. Mollie will be there defeating all challengers, or so she tells me.

Located in Silverthorne’s 4th Street Crossing district, Bluebird Market prides itself on presenting great food with local roots, offering almost a dozen Colorado culinary concepts under one roof, along with free Wi-Fi, live local music, beautiful murals and more. See you there ... although I was just there. Anyway, have fun.
