Now that A-Basin's most recent banner season (although they are all banner at this beloved Colorado resort), Whitney Henceroth, brand manager for the resort and Al Henceroth's daughter, took the time to pen a thank you letter to the community.

She sums up the season nicely, and pointed to the biggies for the 2023–24 season—carbon neutrality being perhaps the greatest achievement of any resort in the Centennial State.

Here's her letter to the community. I haven't seen many letters like this from resorts so I figured I should share.

And with that, the 2023/24 winter season has come to a close!

After 222 days of operating, A-Basin has officially closed out Colorado’s ski & ride season. Closing Day festivities were a splash with Lake Reveal, live music, our favorite corn skiing, and great sunny summer weather.

It was another legendary season here at The Basin. Lifts started spinning for the first time at 8:30 a.m. on October 29 . While the fall was dry, the rest of the season was a hit. January brought in some of the best powder days we’ve ever seen with storms totalling 10”, 15”, even 20” inches overnight. The late season storms (as late as May 12 with 10”) are what kept us going all the way through June 16 and holding the longest ski and ride season in Colorado.

While keeping ticket prices low , we continued to preserve the experience at the ski area by limiting lift tickets and valuing a quality experience over quantity. We celebrated some massive achievements like 100% renewable electricity, achieving carbon neutrality , and being recognized as a leader in the industry for both sustainability and safety .

Seasons come and go, but one thing remains the same: the people who make A-Basin great.

We welcomed old friends and new to join us on the slopes this year. We hosted new folks with OSO Outdoors, the Denver Public Library , Blackpackers , Backcountry Together , and more. We had familiar and beloved events like Slush N’ Spokes , Moonlight Dinners , the Rise N’ Shine Race series , and the Enduro , which raised over $12k for a local community member in need. Plus, we doubled-down on our Pride Weekend, Gay Basin , which was bigger, louder, and prouder than ever before with proceeds going to our local partners at Mountain Pride. And we welcomed two new team members: patrol pups Echo and Olive .

We had a whole lot of fun with some April Fools , Mug Club memories, plenty of East Wall hikes , stein holds , champagne toasts , Valentine’s notes, and powder days on powder days on powder days.

And finally, it’s not goodbye – it’s see you on June 28 for our summer operations. Thank you for a great winter season, and before you know it we’ll be right back in our boots ready to slide on some more snow.

    Thank you,

    Whitney Henceroth
