Xavier Barge, 37, of Powder Springs, is accused of resisting arrest and fighting with police on July 10 at 9:22 p.m. at a residence at 1316 Old Coach Road SW in Marietta, according to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Police Department.

Barge is accused of physically obstructing four officers while being placed into handcuffs during the arrest. After being taken to the ground, Barge continued to resist officers and two sets of handcuffs had to be used. Thirteen officers and sheriff’s deputies were then required to remove Barge from the rear of the patrol vehicle and physically move him into the intake of the jail. Sheriff’s deputies had to utilize waist chains and leg shackles to restrain him, according to the warrant.

Upon being carried out of the jail, Barge bit a sheriff’s deputy and continued to spit at deputies while being placed back into the patrol vehicle. Barge is also accused of forcefully kicking the back door of the patrol vehicle and damaging the door, according to the warrant.

Barge is charged with obstruction/hindering law enforcement; obstruction felony; and criminal interference with government property. He was arrested on July 10 at 9:45 p.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records.

Barge remains in custody without bond.
