As someone who spends most of my time in the backcountry, I'm pretty used to long walks with skis on and the concept of traversing across slopes to access different terrain. But when I ski at the resort, I mostly feel like the runs are pretty linear and the direction is mostly fall line. Sure you do some traversing to access different runs from the top of a lift, but, generally, you're skiing down. A recent stunt from Park City Mountain Resort kinda rocked my view of resort skiing, though.

Last week, Park City released a video of Ski Utah athlete Alex Schlopy skiing across the width of Park City Mountain Resort (PCMR). As I learned from the video, PCMR has 7,300 skiable acres and it's a pretty wide mountain. That is A LOT of terrain to cover when you think about going from one edge of the resort to the other rather than just skiing down along the length of one lift.

The video shows the route and some fun shots from along the way. It's worth a watch and it may even inspire you to get a little more creative with your resort lapping.

Caption: "With 7,300 acres of skiable terrain, @pcski has a lot of space to explore! We wanted to challenge Ski Utah athlete @aschlopy to ski “coast to coast” across the width of the mountain to really feel how expansive his home resort really is. Follow his journey and see how many miles he skied on this adventure!
