Okay so I probably have said this a lot, but I definitely haven't said this enough: I love the Salt Lake Snowcast. Living in the Wasatch can be pretty overwhelming in the winter if you're a skier or snowboarder. Between numerous resorts across the mountain range and incredible backcountry access, there is a lot that goes on in the Wasatch and it can be really hard to keep track of everything.

The Salt Lake Snowcast isn't comprehensive (I don't even think that's possible!) but it does a good job of focusing in on different topics that are relevant to the local backcountry community. Host Nick McEachern has sat down with recent avalanche survivors, unpacked avalanche accidents, discussed weather, talked about how local environmental issues relate to the backcountry community, and so much more. I've found it to be a digestible and accessible resource for engaging more with the local backcountry community.

After a brief hiatus, the Salt Lake Snowcast returned at the end of last week. Episode 14 featured a fun discussion between the Salt Lake Snowcast host and the host of the San Juan Snowcast. Here's a snippet from the episode summary: "On today's episode, I had the chance to chat with my friend Chris Dickson from the San Juan Snowcast. Along with taking a behind the scenes look at both podcasts, we'll talk about our motivation behind these shows. I'll also tell a story from a near miss I had this past week and walk you through my decision making in the mountains. I've talked about it before, but Chris was a big inspiration for the Salt Lake Snowcast, so scroll through his page, check out his long list of topics he's covered, and give it a listen!" - Nick McEachern.
