Located up Big Cottonwood Canyon, Solitude Mountain Resort is hanging on this season. Alta, Snowbasin, Park City Mountain Resort, and a few other ski areas across the state have already closed for the season, but Solitude is hanging on until the bitter end.

Even as temperatures rise, Solitude Mountain Resort announced that they will be open for skiing and riding through May 12th. As of Monday, April 29th Summit and Sunrise chairs are closed for the season, but there are still plenty of turns to be had on the lower mountain.

As someone who just moved to Salt Lake City last year, I haven't actually had a chance to ski Solitude yet (I'm still making the rounds through all the ski options here). But I've heard it's a pretty fun place to check out. And I really love the views from upper Big Cottonwood Canyon.

If you're already starting to think about next season, it's worth noting that Ikon passes (full, base, and session passes) are on sale now. Solitude is an Ikon pass resort (as are some other resorts in the Central Wasatch) so if you're planning on skiing more in Utah, it could be worth the investment.
