Expectations were high heading into this past season after the record-setting snowfall of the 2022/2023 season. While snowfall totals weren't historic, they were not disappointing. And, in a recent Instagram post, Alta Ski Area called this past season "The Perfect Encore" which seems quite fitting. The full Instagram caption is a pretty good summary of the season and a thoughtful reflection. Read it in its entirety below.

That's a wrap on another snowfall season at Alta Ski Area—a season that delivered 628 inches of snow, plenty of powder days and a return to "normal" at the end of Highway 210 in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

This season was the encore to last season's record-shattering 903-inch winter. While we were ready for Mother Nature's encore we clicked into our skis with equal parts stoke and trepidation. Why trepidation? Because the 2022–23 winter pushed the limits of snowfall and showed us that too much snow can actually be too much of a good thing.

This encore of a season was near perfect. 628 inches of snow provided Alta skiers ample days to hone their powder skiing craft, plentiful wall-to-wall terrain openings from Mount Baldy's bootpack to East Castle's sidestep and a fun spring skiing season filled with bluebird days and soft turns.

Alta Ski Area received a mind-blowing 1,531 inches of snow over the past two seasons. That's a lot of snow. 🤯
