ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A new Publix store is planned for the Powdersville area of Anderson County.

Publix Super Markets announced Wednesday that the company has signed a lease for a new store at Ferguson Town Center at the corner of Highway 81 and Highway 153.

The 48,387 square foot store is expected to employ around 140 people.

No opening date was announced for the new store.

This is the second new Publix store announced for the Upstate this year.

In March, the company announced plans to open a grocery store at The Shops at Arden Woods at the corner of Fork Shoals Road and Ashmore Bridge Road in Mauldin. That store is set to open in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Publix currently has 20 stores in the Upstate, including two in Anderson County.
