Exciting announcements keep coming in the local food and drink scene, with several anticipated projects in the suburbs. No matter where you are in Central Ohio these days, there’s almost always something new to try.

Wine and matcha in Dublin
Coast Wine House in Historic Dublin debuts its new restaurant, Gene’s , on Thursday, July 18. Located at 91 S. High St., Gene’s features a new American menu that rotates seasonally, paired with a wine-centric beverage program. Executive chef Bobby Moore’s summer 2024 menu features items like whipped ricotta with radishes, sea bass crudo and chicken fried mushrooms. Across the river, Fukuryu Ramen announced that it will soon open a series of matcha bars called Milky Way Matcha , starting with a walk-up window at its Bridge Park Dublin location.
A new lunch and dinner spot in Powell
Two Rivers Restaurant and Bar debuted this week at 4046 Powell Road in Powell. It’s led by chef Michael Frame, whose résumé includes stints with 101 Beer Kitchen, Bon Vie and Cameron Mitchell Restaurants. Two Rivers is open for lunch and dinner; it takes over a former Yabo’s Tacos location.
German Village loses Spanish and German restaurants
The companion restaurants El Lugar and Alpine quietly closed in German Village recently. The two eateries, focused on Spanish tapas and German fare, respectively, inhabited the space at 525 S. Fourth St.
Bao samples at Seventh Son
Finally, the second edition of a bao bun-focused event called Bao Down arrives on Monday, July 22, at Seventh Son Brewing. It features five different Columbus restaurants serving their versions of bao buns. Tickets are available here .
Elsewhere in Central Ohio:
- The first Columbus location of Paris Baguette opened recently at 3969 Merchants Row at Easton Town Center. The South Korea-based chain features pastries, coffee, tea, salads and sandwiches.
- A new sports bar called Homefield also opened in recent weeks at 1312 Grandview Ave. It takes over the former Round II space, which closed earlier this year.
- Creole Kitchen in King-Lincoln Bronzeville is temporarily closed as it moves to its new home at 795 E. Long St.
