    Get your popcorn buckets ready.

Sydney Yee, a 16-year-old Olentangy Liberty High School student in Powell, will compete in American Ninja Warrior's season 16 semifinals Monday night after starting the competition as one of the youngest in the running.

Yee was 15 when the season was filmed and had to compete against "season professionals" twice her age during the show's qualifier rounds, according to a statement released from her parents.

During the qualifiers, Yee didn't initially make the cut to advance to the semifinals, but in the show's "Runoff" competition, she beat another runner to secure a fifth-place spot and a chance at the semifinals.

"She’s shown incredible determination and skill while having the best time of her life," Yee's parents, Christina and Ken Yee said in an email statement.

Where can I watch American Ninja Warrior?

When she's not competing on national television, Yee spends her time as a leader in Scouts BSA and as a student at Olentangy Liberty High School and Olentangy STEM Academy, according to the press release.

The semi-finals will air Monday night from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on NBC. It will also be available for streaming on Peacock the next day.
