The crosswalk was officially opened to use on October 11.</p><p>The installation took place a day earlier in order to have it ready to go for a very monumental day in the LGBTQ+ community.</p><h2>The Fort Collins Crosswalk's Meaning</h2><p>The Rainbow Flag crosswalk, which is located on Howes Street, is a way that the city of Fort Collins is showing support to the LGBTQ+ community.</p><p>The crosswalk opened on National Coming Out Day. Here is what the city of Fort Collins' City Manager Kelly DiMartino said in <a href="https://www.fcgov.com/news/?id=8748">a statement</a>.</p><blockquote><p>Coming out is a powerful act of authenticity and bravery that fosters understanding and connection. While we celebrate those who choose to live openly, we recognize that many still feel hesitant to come out at work.
