Boothbay sets Aug. 1 deadline for Butler and Country Club road work
Boothbay selectmen want the Butler and Country Club road paving project complete by Aug. 1. Contractor McGee Construction began the project last spring with an expected May 17 completion date. A week of steady rain and an unforeseen ledge problem delayed the project, but selectmen believe even with those delays, the project should have been completed by now. McGee began work earlier this spring on a sewer and water project for an affordable housing project.

Rev. M. Cristina Paglinauan to lead All Saints services Aug. 4 and 11
The Church of All Saints by-the-Sea is happy to announce that the Rev. M. Cristina Paglinauan will return to the Southport Island Episcopal chapel to lead services of Holy Communion for the next two weeks at 8 and 10 a.m. Our organist, Mr. Henry Lowe, will provide inspirational music at all services. People of all faiths are invited to attend the services. The Rev. Paglinauan will also lead a discussion of the week’s scripture passages on the porch of the chapel on Tuesday mornings, Aug. 6 and 13 at 9 a.m.
Fire department’s barbecue draws dozens
A bright, sunny day provided for a successful fundraising event for Boothbay Harbor Fire Department on Saturday, July 27 at Sherman Field, Boothbay Region High School. The department held a three-hour barbecue with burgers, chicken, potato chips, cole slaw and more, and activities included a dunk tank, face painting, a bounce house, raffle, and music provided by a three-piece band.
Wiscasset checks further in town for sewer plant sites
The firm helping Wiscasset think on where a new sewer plant could go has some initial thoughts on a couple more sites and how they compare to ones already eyed. Documents that detail those thoughts were released July 25 in connection with selectmen’s July 30 meeting; the documents also reveal why one site was eyed two years ago and why it is no longer an option.
