Beech Ridge Motor Speedway opens gates for Short Track Racing Appreciation Day
SCARBOROUGH, Maine — The gates of the Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough swung open again for the first time since 2021 for Short Track Racing Appreciation Day. Modern, vintage and oval track karting vehicles were included in Sunday's events. Visitors were able to meet former track champs, get a look at the historic grounds of the speedway and even enjoy food trucks.

Ellsworth Bike Party looks to welcome cyclists
ELLSWORTH, Maine (WABI) - A handful of cyclists from the Ellsworth area meet every month to take in the city on two wheels. “I used to ride my bike a lot in England, but England was very flat, and everywhere it’s kind of close together. The towns are not far apart. So, when I moved to Maine, it was quite a shock that there’s big distances between places and it’s very hilly and I wasn’t really enjoying biking. I felt like there was a lot of traffic and there weren’t other people riding bikes and I really thought ‘Oh, it would be nice to make Ellsworth more bike friendly,’” explained Ellsworth Bike Party Organizer, Alice Slater.

CHEBEAGUE ISLAND -- The Maine Marine patrol recovered the body of an unidentified male from Casco Bay on Friday morning. Marine Patrol say they were notified by the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office just after 9:00 a.m. Friday of a body in the water approximately 100 yards from the end of Indian Point Road on Chebeague Island.

Three People Were Found Dead in a House in Mechanic Falls
Police are Investigating after the bodies of three people were found in a home in Mechanic Falls. The deceased were discovered by Mechanic Falls Police Saturday afternoon and, at approximately 4:00, they asked for assistance from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit. Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says the bodies were found in a home on Highland Avenue but have not commented on what sent the officers to the home originally.

Boothbay Region Elementary School’s first-floor hallway was packed with friends and family on Wednesday, July 24 as students presented their summer projects.
