Sauk Prairie Fire on the River postponed over safety concerns

SAUK PRAIRIE, Wis. -- Fire on the River in Sauk Prairie, originally scheduled for this weekend, was postponed due to safety concerns, organizers announced Tuesday.

In a Facebook post, organizers said they could not ensure the safety of those working near the river over the weekend. This comes after several days of rain across south-central Wisconsin.

"This isn't what anyone wanted, but it's safest for everyone," organizers said. "The only event that will remain on schedule is the Eagle Chase Run/Walk, beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, July 6 at Riverfront Park.

The event will now be held on Aug. 2-3. The Thunder on the River Car Show is set for Aug. 2 and Fireworks on the Riverway are set for Aug. 3. Organizers said they are working to confirm entertainment, food vendors and other offerings for the new dates.
