Rancho Centenario in Prairie Township hosts west Mexican-style rodeos — also called jaripeos — every few months. Here's what to expect if you go.

When and where : The next rodeo is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 18 at 2635 Norton Road near Galloway. The gates open at 5 p.m.

Purchasing a ticket : Ticket pre-sales range from $60 up; children under 10 get in free. Tickets can be purchased at several La Michoacana grocery locations (534 Norton Road; 3629 Sullivant Ave.), La Plaza Tapatia (255 Georgesville Road), La Herradura (976 Galloway Road) and Pablo's Tires. Parking at the ranch costs $20 per vehicle.

What to bring : Many of the food and drink vendors accept cash only, so bring bills. Sunscreen, a hat and a water bottle are also recommended. Outside food and drinks are not allowed.

Food and drinks : Food and drinks are sold by vendors inside, and cost extra. Vendors sell tacos, churros, ceviche and other Mexican dishes. Beer and cocktails are also available.

Entertainment for kids : Games and other entertainment are available for kids, including a rodeo clown who performs in Spanish at half time, a bounce castle and mechanical bull ride — which costs extra.
