A local Vigo County fire department celebrates their anniversary

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Prairieton Fire Department celebrated their 80th Anniversary with the community early Saturday.

The fire department had food, activities, and bounce houses for the folks who came out. They also had a recruitment booth set up for anyone interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter for the department.

Deputy Chief Scott Dean says he’s proud to be a part of such a great fire department.

“This fire department is amazing. I’m surrounded by some of the best volunteers that a guy could ask for. It’s truly a blessing to be here.”

Dean also states he is surrounded by firefighters who always help each other out and to community whenever they can.
