Monopoly to Launch a Tampa-Themed Edition, Asks Community for Local Recommendations

Brace yourselves, Tampa residents and board game enthusiasts, because Monopoly: Tampa Edition is coming to town! The beloved business board game is set to receive a Tampa Bay-inspired makeover, featuring iconic local businesses, nonprofits, and landmarks.

Top Trumps USA, the maker of Monopoly, has announced that the game will hit store shelves in late February 2024. However, before the game's release, the public will have a chance to shape its content by suggesting their favorite Tampa establishments.

As the launch of Monopoly: Tampa Edition draws near, anticipation is building among Tampa Bay residents and enthusiasts alike.

To involve the community in the creation of the game, Top Trumps USA is inviting the public to submit their recommendations for local businesses, nonprofits, and landmarks to be featured on the Tampa board.

Those interested in participating can submit their favorite local recommendations for squares to tampa@toptrumps.com.

You could send in your favorite Tampa Bay locations including the famous Ybor City, Hyde Park Village, the Tampa Zoo, Clearwater Beach, Hard Rock Casino, and more. Maybe you want the Monopoly guy to dine in at the famous Columbia restaurant and then stroll the streets of Ybor looking for a classic Cuban cigar?

And don't forget everyone's favorite Bern's Steakhouse, which Forbes said is one of the world's best steakhouses!

In addition to incorporating Tampa Bay's beloved establishments, Monopoly: Tampa Edition will feature customized Community Chest and Chance playing cards. The game's currency will also receive a local touch, paying homage to the Tampa Bay community.

Since its initial release in 1935, Monopoly has become an iconic board game loved by millions worldwide. Throughout its 87-year history, the game has seen numerous themed editions but has retained its timeless gameplay.
