WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 34-year-old man has been booked into jail after an 11-month-old girl was rescued from the I-135 canal in south Wichita. WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A teenager has pleaded no contest in the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy inside a Wichita mall in 2022. The Sedgwick County district attorney's office said 18-year-old Te'bryis Robinson on Tuesday pleaded no contest to second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder and aggravated battery. He was originally charged with first-degree murder and criminal use of a weapon by a juvenile in the killing of killing of TrenJ'vious Hutton at Towne East Square on March 18, 2022.
Barton Co. approves $18K for bulk mailing of revenue neutral notices
Three years ago, the Kansas legislature passed its revenue-neutral laws to increase transparency regarding property taxes and tax rates. Unfortunately, the legislation has carried a price tag. Each taxing entity that announces an intent to exceed revenue neutral, or collect more tax dollars than it did the year before, must notify the public. At Tuesday's Barton County Commission meeting, County Clerk Bev Schmeidler sought approval on a bid to mail out those notices at a cost exceeding $17,000.
