CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) – The City of Cortland and its firefighters will benefit from Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding. The Cortland Fire Department (CFD) has been awarded about $48,000 for new protective gear and training through DHS FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG). Binghamton, Elmira, and Whitney Point join Cortland as Southern Tier winners. Nearly $1.5 million is headed to 16 departments across the state, including the City of Auburn and Moravia in Cayuga County.

County Sheriff: Man arrested for DWI in Cortlandville
A man was arrested over the weekend for driving while intoxicated, according to a report. The Cortland County Sheriff’s Report stated that officers made a traffic stop on Saunders Road in Cortlandville. According to the report, officers determined that Matthew G. Tebbe, 26, of the Town of Marathon, was driving his vehicle “in an intoxicated condition.”
