New York eyes changes to $25 billion school aid formula
New York state could soon overhaul how it allocates education funding to each school district. Researchers kicked off a process Tuesday to rework the state’s primary school aid formula, with five public hearings scheduled over the next month in New York City and statewide. The funding stream, known as Foundation Aid, directs $24.9 billion of the $35.9 billion state education package this year to local schools — but is facing mounting criticism that it’s outdated and inequitable.
Drake's Toronto mansion floods amid intense rainfall in Canada that left 167,000 customers without power
Rapper Drake shared a video of murky water flooding his Toronto mansion as heavy rains inundated parts of Canada on Tuesday and knocked out power for thousands of customers. The "One Dance" singer shared a video on his Instagram story showing what appeared to be a vanity room and closet filled with brown muddy water. He then walked towards the hall, sloshing through the ankle-deep water.

Cortland Repertory Theatre will present as the fourth mainstage show in their 53rd annual summer season, a new adaptation of the classic thriller “Wait Until Dark”, running from July 17 - 26. Originally written by Frederick Knott and newly adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher, this play will have evening shows at 7:30 PM, with matinees on July 19, 21, 23 and 24 at 2:00 PM. Access To Independence Celebrates 34 Years of the Americans with Disabilities Act

Homer FD praises teamwork in Monday fire
HOMER, NY (CortacaToday) – The Homer Fire Department is crediting teamwork in saving a home from being destroyed. Firefighters were called to a structure fire off Route 281 around 7:30 p.m. Monday. Responding Homer and Preble Fire units prevented the outbuilding blaze from spreading to an adjacent house. Nearly a dozen departments and other emergency agencies were on standby for mutual aid.
