A New Dog Park Will Open in Cedar Rapids This Week
Cedar Rapids will get its third dog park later on this week! The 12th Avenue Dog Park is set to open its gates on Friday, July 19th at 10:30 a.m. Located at 405 12th Avenue SE in the Oak Hill Jackson Neighborhood, the 12th Avenue Dog Park is around a half-acre in size. It is completely fenced-in and equipped with benches and concrete entry areas, but there is still more to come. The Cedar Rapids city website says:
Man Sentenced To Life in Prison For Killing Dubuque Woman
A man was sentenced to life in prison without parole Monday for killing a Dubuque woman in 2021. 25 year old Romell Enoch received the mandatory sentence during a hearing in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after previously being found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of 20 year old Kylie Duster of Dubuque. A jury reached its guilty verdict on May 6 after four hours of deliberation following three days of testimony. Police found Duster dead in her Dubuque home on July 28, 2021, after she had not been seen for multiple days. She was found in her bedroom closet with a piece of white fabric in her mouth and injuries to her face and neck.

The futures of what will eventually be three former Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) schools could be decided by state officials starting Wednesday (07.17). Charles City, Decorah and Waverly-Shell Rock (WSR) are all headed for mediation in separate efforts to join new conferences starting with the 2025-26 school year. Johnson County leaders buy property to be used for affordable housing
IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - 15 apartments will soon be available for affordable housing in Iowa City, after a $1.7 million purchase by the Johnson County Board of Supervisors. The property is at 1102 Hollywood Boulevard and includes two-bedroom, one-bathroom, partially furnished, two-story townhomes. Iowa City man accused of second domestic assault incident
An Iowa City man was arrested Sunday night after an alleged assault on the mother of his two children.
