Rib Lake boys top Chequamegon

The Rib Lake High School Varsity Boys Basketball team won at home 58-48 against Chequamegon on Feb. 19. Rib Lake is first in the Marawood North Conference with one regular season game to go.

The Rib Lake scorers were led by Dominic Quednow with 18 points, followed by Andrew Wudi with 11, Jackson Blomberg with 10, Donovan Sutherland with 8, Talon Scheithauer with 6, and Seth Borchardt with 5.

The Chequamegon scorers were led by sophomore Cooper Michalski with 25 points, followed by senior AJ Morgan with 17, alongwith Marcus Purdy, Jeremiah Miguel and Robert Schienebeck, each with 2.

The win puts Rib Lake at 11-4 for the season in the Marawood North Conference and 18-5 overall. The Redmen have one regular season conference home game left against Phillips (6-9) on Feb. 27, before starting the WIAA Regional Tournament by hosting Butternut (0-16) on Feb. 27.

The loss puts Chequamegon at 2-23 in conference and 4-19 overall for the year. The Screaming Eagles have one regular season conference match at home against Abbotsford (3-12) on Feb. 22, before starting the WIAA Regional Tournament at Iona-Scandinavia (5-8) on Feb. 27.
