Peaceful Gathering to host Guest Chef events

    2024-04-25

The monthly Peaceful Gathering community meals were started 15 years ago with the goal of bringing people together and strengthening the community through fellowship and a delicious meal. The menus are not announced until the night of the meal to keep the focus on community rather than food, according to organizers.

As a group of home cooks the Peaceful Gathering volunteers take great pride in preparing a delicious family style meal for our community. Starting April 30, the Peaceful Gathering will be inviting guest chefs, restaurant cooks, or home chefs who would like to showcase their culinary talents while building community.

The goal is for the guest chefs to showcase their culinary skills and provide insight into their businesses and for home chefs to have an opportunity to cook for a larger group who will appreciate their talents.

Guest chefs will have the assistance of Peaceful Gathering volunteers with help in prep, serving and clean up in creating full family style meals. The chef’s budget is based on the expected number of guests and is funded fully by generous community donors so that the meals are always free to the public.

According to the organizers, the volunteer chef for April 30 is scheduled to be Brad Pearson, former owner of AJ’s Restaurant and current chef at Northern Pines Resort in Butternut. Iron Chef competitor and barbecue cookbook author Charles Michael, and the mobile Lola’s Lunch Box staff have also agreed to participate.

If interested in being a guest chef, please text DEREK at 715-301-6206 and include the month they would like to participate.

The Peaceful Gathering is held at 5:30 p.m. on the last day of the month in the lower level Gathering Hall of Peace Lutheran Church at 598 2nd Ave. N., Park Falls. Gluten free options are available.
