Caroline Grace poetry reading

Local author Caroline Grace will hold a reading and signing of her new book of poetry, “Sun and the Rain,” from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 at Phillips Public Library, 286 Cherry St.

The book is divided into three sections: laments, praises, and laughs, said Phillips Public Library Director Rebecca Puhl.

“The book makes for a good gift for anyone going through or coming out of a hard time in life,” she said.

Caroline Grace, in her introduction, said she is “fortunate” to be raised in the northwoods and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. Her love for writing stems from expressing her imagination and emotions, serious or silly, on paper.

“Sun and the Rain” is a collection of the writings that focused on some of the highs and lows of her life experience.

“I chose to share these specific ones in hopes that they can bring us together in community in some way or another in knowing that we are not alone in our sunshine moments and in our storms,” Grace said.
