Spirit approves wake surf ordinance

The town of Spirit has approved a draft wake surf ordinance for all waterways in the township, according to the minutes of the Board of Supervisors meeting on Sept. 10. The Wake Surf Ordinance will be enacted upon Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, according to the minutes.

In the public comment portion of the meeting, Delpha Halvorson said the Meier Road project was completed and that a person with the project didn’t recommend blacktopping to avoid a washout of gravel beneath the blacktop. Town Board Chair Darrel Lind said that blacktopping would be a separate project if the township decided to blacktop, and if that were to occur then the township would need to submit the additional work to Price County to request a percentage reimbursement of the project cost.

Also during the comment period, Lunch said the posts placed along River Road were reportedly removed. Lunch will inquire to see what happened to the posts.

In the roads report, the minutes noted that the Meier Road project is completed. In a separate project, McMillian Electric was contacted to request installation of a new shop generator hook-up.

In other business, the township has contacted area loggers about winter logging on town owned land. The new Stone Lake dock was installed and the town will likely put the previous dock up for sale on bids.

The board approved a budget hearing and special meeting of the electors before the regular monthly board meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 12.
