The National Weather Service office in Duluth has updated the thunderstorm risk for the region for tonight and Thursday, with the most severe weather to include large hail and possible tornadoes in north-central and northeast Minnesota, and northwest Wisconsin. The highest risk area has shifted slightly eastward, according to the weather service. Price County is on the eastern fringe of the storm front, with scattered showers and thunderstorms expected. ATV crash call from Mississippi
When a visitor called 911 to report an ATV/UTV crash in Catawba, the call went to the emergency dispatch where the phone was assigned in the home state of Mississippi. The Price County Sheriff’s Office reported a 911 call was received from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office in Mississippi at around 4:13 p.m. on May 30. The lieutenant who called said they received a call to report an ATV accident in which the operator was injured. ...
Pulverizing work completed on Highways W, D
Pulverization work on County Highway W and County Highway D has been completed, according to a June 14 project update from the Price County Highway Department. The paving work will follow and the dates and times are weather dependent, according to the announcement.

The National Weather Service office in Duluth has issued a hazardous weather outlook for much of northern and western Wisconsin to include Price County on Tuesday and Wednesday, with possible continued weather throughout the week. Lost on the trail
The Price County Sheriff’s Office was able to locate and rescue two men who became lost on the Tuscobia Trail on May 27, according to the department call log information. A 911 call to Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office at around 8:04 p.m., stated that the two men wandered off the trail and were in the area of Snuss Boulevard and Hines Road in the Winter area. The nearest deputy was approximately 90 minutes away at the time and because the two men said they were in need of water the department requested for a Price County Sheriff’s Office deputy to assist. Deputy Aaron Hickerson responded to the call and encountered the men. He provided the men with a ride to a Park Falls hotel.

The Price County Veterans Services Office is hosting an Outreach and Benefits EXPO from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 18 at the city of Phillips Municipal Building, 174 S. Pretrial hearing set in murder case
PHILLPS — The defendant in a Park Falls homicide case made his initial appearance in Price County Circuit Court on June 4. Christopher Dyer, 50, who is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, appeared in custody before Price County Judge Kevin G. Klein. County D work starts Thursday
Pulverizing and grading work on a section of County Highway D will require lane reduction with a flag worker starting Thursday, June 13, according to an announcement from the Price County Highway Department. The work zone is located from Chequamegon Drive going south for 1.4 miles. County D will be limited to one lane of traffic in the work zone from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the speed limit reduced to 35 mph for the duration of the project. The work period is dependent on the weather. Motorists are asked to allow extra time for the commute.
