Business Expo Set For Mobile
The Mobile Chamber is holding its next Business Expo on August 15 at 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Mobile Convention Center Exhibit Hall. Called “Mobile’s largest business-to-business trade show” by the chamber, it is to feature more than 200 exhibitors showcasing new products and services, along with business resources, food and beverage samples from local vendors, and more. Admission is $5 per person with a business card. Booth registration is open here.
Downtown Mobile Restaurant And Retail News
The Downtown Mobile Alliance recently announced restaurant expansions and retail news in the Downtown Lowdown. Chuck’s Fish is adding a bar and additional seating to the vacant space next door, with the expansion expected to be complete by the end of July. On the same block of Dauphin Street, Grace is also expanding, creating space for large gatherings, private events and general overflow seating when demand is high. Additionally, signs announcing the opening of BND Clothing were posted at 362 Dauphin Street, the former location of the Tres menswear boutique.
Portside On Main At The Wharf To Open With 11 Merchants
Portside on Main, which is under construction at the The Wharf, will consist of more than 33,000 ft2 of retail, office and entertainment space, in addition to approximately 26,000 ft2 of green and open space, which will include an outdoor stage. The original Wharf Main Street property stands at 99% occupancy for the summer season. Portside on Main has space for approximately 22 merchants and office tenants in total with 11 spots to be filled upon opening. In addition to Tee Off at The Wharf, the other current tenants at Portside on Main include LM Boutique; Brand; Kilwins; Love, Jude; Little Sunshine by the Sea; Salt; Bubble’s Boba Tea Co.; Gulf Babe Wine Boutique; Legacy Spirits; Lavish Retail + Co.; and Crave Cookies. Nearly all are owned by area residents. Stirling Properties represented The Wharf in securing the new tenants slated for Portside on Main.
Gulf Coast Ethnic & Heritage Jazz Festival Coming Up
The Gulf Coast Ethnic & Heritage Jazz Festival is taking place on July 25-28 in Mobile. The festival begins with an evening of poetry at Central Presbyterian Church on July 25 at 6 p.m. Poetry contest winners will be announced, and admission is $10. The next day, at 7 p.m. at the Via! Center, a Jazz Gala featuring the Marcus Johnson Summer Jazz Camp Orchestra, the Andrew Ayers Trio and local musicians will be held. Admission is $35. On July 27, beginning at 6 p.m. at Saenger Theatre Mobile, Delfeayo Marsalis and the Uptown Jazz Orchestra and Gino Rosaria will perform. Tickets start at $29.50. The final day will take place at The Elks Lodge at 4 p.m. and feature The Excelsior Band, Bay Carnival and The Jukebox Brass Band. Admission is free.
United Cerebral Palsy’s Food & Folly Announced
United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile has announced its 15th annual Food & Folly for Fort Whiting in Mobile on September 19 at 6:30-9:30 p.m. The organization’s signature annual event, Food & Folly evokes the spirit of Mobile’s Carnival season. Attendees will enjoy cuisine samples from local restaurants; live music by the Excelsior Band; wine, craft beer and spirits tastings; a silent auction; a wine pull; and more. The nonprofit expects 300 guests, including area business professionals and influential community members. Tickets are $100 per couple and $65 per person. A 15% discount is available until July 31 with the promo code “EARLYBIRD.” All proceeds benefit United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile.

Mobile Infirmary has received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Comprehensive Stroke Center Accreditation by consistently meeting its performance standards. The Joint Commission has accredited only two designated Comprehensive Stroke Centers in Alabama, and Mobile Infirmary is the sole provider in the Gulf Coast region. The stroke programs within Infirmary Health’s Neuroscience Center of Excellence are designed to provide immediate emergency medical treatment to stroke victims, ensuring they receive the necessary care as soon as possible. The seal symbolizes quality and signifies a healthcare organization’s commitment to providing safe, high-quality patient care. Mobile Infirmary says that achieving Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Certification sets the highest standard for delivering care in the healthcare industry.

Mike Reid of Merrill P. Thomas Co., Inc., represented both the landlord (a private company) and tenant (Excel Beach Service) in the lease of 18270 County Road 12 in Foley. This is a 4,480-ft2 industrial building featuring office, showroom and warehouse space. Excel Beach Service is a locally owned and operated provider of beach and bonfire experiences along the Gulf Shores, Perdido Key, 30A and Destin coastlines. It offers a range of services including beach chair, umbrella and side table rentals, as well as paddleboard rentals and beach bonfire setups.

Island Life Personalized Medicine, a direct primary care clinic, is now open in Gulf Shores and will hold a grand opening ceremony on August 6. Owner Maggie Wallace’s goal is to bring personalized medicine with a beach-vibe family atmosphere. Wallace is known in the area for her high-quality care, chronic health management, weight loss/lifestyle management, holistic approach and patient advocacy, according to a press release. Foley moves forward with plans to create entertainment district in historic downtown
FOLEY, Ala. (WPMI) — The entertainment district proposed for Foley could bring more business and activity to downtown without leading to problems with disruptive behavior. The Foley City Council approved a first reading of an ordinance to establish an entertainment district in the downtown area west of Alabama 59. The ordinance is scheduled for a final vote in August.
