The towering edifice on Main Street in Prince Frederick continues to take shape as construction work rolls on at the site of Calvert County government’s new administration building.

On Wednesday, Mike Jenkins, the project supervisor with builder Forrester Construction, told Southern Maryland News that the project is not “water-tight” yet but could reach that stage toward the end of July.

Jenkins said currently workers are installing sheathing on the structure’s exterior, with the installation of windows expected to start during the third week of August along with brick work.

While there have been a small number of closures on Main Street during the project, Jenkins said no more are anticipated.

In early June, the last steel beam on the structure was set. Four county commissioners along with members of the county administrator’s office signed the beam before it was set in place.

Jenkins told Southern Maryland News the completion date for the new building is still sometime next May.

Construction on the administration building, which will aid local government in exiting offices in the county courthouse, began last September.

In June 2023, a $38.7 million contract was awarded to Forrester, a Rockville-based company, to construct the 103,000 square-foot, four-story building, which will house most of county government’s departments and employees.
