Wake Up Tri-Counties John Wirth Talks Francis Park July 4th Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show
John Wirth talked about the Street Cruisers Car Club he started and the Francis Park Fourth of July car, truck, and motorcycle show that he helped bring back after over a decade-long hiatus. The car, truck, and motorcycle show is from 9 AM to 3 PM at Francis Park. Registration for the car show is from 9 AM to 11 AM, and voting takes place from 11 AM to noon. The entry fee for the car show is $10 prior to July 4th and $15 on the day of the car show. Call John Wirth at 309-525-2469, or email [email protected] for more information. The craft fair and flea market are also from 9 AM to 3 PM. Contact Brenda at 309-853-9419 to reserve a spot. The tractor parade starts at Kewanee Wal-Mart at 8 AM and ends at Francis Park. Kewanee Police Announce Increased Patrols During July to Combat Speeding
The Kewanee Police Department is joining the Illinois State Police and more than 200 local law enforcement agencies to increase patrols and step up enforcement efforts across the state in an effort to reduce speeding. Throughout July, motorists can expect increased patrols looking for speeding, as well as other traffic violations.

Traidan Hier, 18, will begin her studies at Augusta College in Rock Island next month, saying goodbye to the home where she grew up on a secluded farmstead just south of Kewanee. Hidden from the highway with a long, winding lane which leads back to a tree-lined pond just outside of the kitchen window and is home to an assortment of chickens, rabbits, cats, a dog, a pony (which belongs to her sister, Daci), and, at one time, goats that liked to nibble on her hair.

OGLESBY – Prospective students can Explore IVCC at a summer open house on Wednesday, July 17, in the Dr. Mary Margaret Weeg Cultural Centre. The event begins at 1 p.m. with a panel of students sharing their IVCC experiences. Deans and faculty will be available to discuss majors and offer tours of labs and classrooms, and counselors will be available to discuss academic programs. 2 water mains break in Freeport, neighborhood under boil order
FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) - Freeport deals with two water main breaks and a boil water notice Tuesday. City officials notified residents around 8:30 a.m. July 2 about a water main break at the intersection of Galena Avenue and Brewster Avenue. Due to the break, the Water and Sewer Department issued a boil order. The boil order is expected to last 24 to 48 hours after water is restored.

What started as a Belvidere grandmother's rainy day activity for her six grandkids has turned into a community art project in the 400 block of West Jackson Street. Debbie Weslow, 56, who has lived in Belvidere for 23 years with her husband, David, said she had seen the idea for a painted rock snake about a year ago via Pinterest and Facebook.
