DNR officer report May 23

District 10 - Mille Lacs area

- CO Victoria Griffith (Isle) monitored angling and ATVing activity. Enforcement action was taken on angling, boat safety, and ATV violations. Griffith would like to remind the public to reach out to area officers or utilize the TIP line to report information they may have about natural resource violations.

- CO Dan Starr (Onamia) worked fishing, ATVing, boating safety, and nuisance animal issues. Overall fishing pressure was down significantly from previous years. Violations dealt with included possessing slot pike, no fishing license, lacking PFDs, ATV on a highway, driving after revocation, and lacking proper ATV lighting. Assistance was given to Crow Wing County with an ATV crash where both passengers were severely injured.

District 12 - Princeton area

- CO Ryan Hanna (Milaca) patrolled area lakes for life jacket use, boat registration and alcohol violations. Hanna educated boaters on life jacket use for youth under 10. Many boaters were out in area lakes following the laws and having a good time.
