    Fourth of July events booming into local communities

    Bock, Pease, Princeton, and Zimmerman are all preparing for their annual Fourth of July celebrations next Thursday with parades, fireworks, and more events for local communities to look forward to.

    Below are the schedules of events for each community listed in alphabetical order.

    Bock

    Bock’s festivities begin at noon on the Fourth of July with food being served by local establishments along Main Street.

    The Howling Dog will be grilling hot dogs, The Dirty Blonde Bar & Grill with be serving sloppy joes with chips or grilled pork chops, and Fat Jack Cabaret will be serving shredded barbecue chicken and coleslaw. Beer gardens will also be available at each establishment.

    The highlight of the Bock celebrations, however, is the Fourth of July Parade starting at 3 p.m.

    Parade floats can begin lining up starting at 11 a.m. near the Creamery. There is no entry fee for the parade, and all groups and floats are welcome.

    Pease

    Over in Pease, celebrations for the Fourth of July will also kick off at 3 p.m. with bounce houses, face painting, and crazy hair for kids to enjoy at the Pease Park.

    Also at 3 p.m. until the conclusion of the fireworks display, the Canteen will be open with food and refreshments for sale including homemade pies, ice cream, nachos, candy, hot dogs, pizza, popcorn, slushies, and other beverages.

    From 4-7 p.m. the DC Express Band will be performing live music.

    From 4-6 p.m. a petting zoo will be available with a variety of small farm animals including goats, chickens, rabbits, and more.

    Also starting at 4 p.m. is the cornhole tournament for any two-person teams looking to participate.

    Then from 6-7:30 p.m., kids games will be available on the park’s ballfield, and immediately following at 7:30 p.m. will be the adult softball tournament until dusk when the fireworks display will be set off.

    The Pease Fourth of July Celebrations are provided by the Christian Reformed Church of Pease.

    Princeton

    Princeton’s Fourth of July celebrations will all take place at the Mille Lacs County Fairgrounds and is sponsored by the Princeton American Legion Post 216.

    At the fairgrounds during the festivities, the SSG Mary Horgan Women Warriors art display will be available for attendees to view.

    The art pieces are two statues depicting women warriors in combat to emphasize their contributions. The pieces are by SSG Mary Horgan who was given a grant to complete the pieces.

    Horgan’s statues were completed in 2023 and have been on display in Ramsey.

    The artist will also be visiting to display some of her other prototypes, and to explain her intent, her methods, and her creative process.

    The display will be temporarily set up for the festivities near the fairground’s main gates.

    Other festivities at the fairgrounds in Princeton will begin at 4 p.m. with bingo running until 6 p.m. at which time a Garden Tractor Pull will take place on the Speedway.

    To conclude the festivities, a fireworks display will be set off at dusk.

    Also in Princeton, over at the Free Grace United Church, 2025 Second St. N., will be a block party with food, games, and fireworks. The event will begin at 6 p.m.

    Zimmerman

    Zimmerman is also getting in on the Fourth of July fun with a boat parade set to take place at 1 p.m. through Ridgewood Bay Resort at 14255 288th Ave. NW. A weekend Pig Roast is set to follow the parade at 6 p.m., and live music will be available at the resort all weekend long.
