PRINCETON — As her shop settles into its new home, Christy Mitteldorfer has finally realized her dream.

“It’s something that I have wanted to do my whole life,” said Mitteldorfer, the owner of Christy’s Boutique.

She hopes the third spot’s the charm. “This is our third location, but hopefully it’s our final,” she said. “It’s just taken us these few locations to get to where we really wanted to be, which was a downtown boutique, preferably in downtown Princeton, because this is our home.”

Christy’s opened in 2022 at 111 Bridge Drive in Princeton before decamping to Smithfield. She’ll open this week at 119 W. Edwards St., a downtown Princeton storefront.

“I wish I could have been right here in the beginning; it just wasn’t available,” Mitteldorfer said. “We decided on a spot in Princeton, and then we just needed a little bigger spot, and still there was nothing available here in Princeton. So we moved on over to our second location in front of Bealls in Smithfield.”

Once it became available, the storefront on Edwards Street needed just a bit of work, Mitteldorfer said. “We had to completely build the dressing room because there were no dressing rooms here,” she said. “We put the bars up to hang the clothes on, but that’s really about it.”

The boutique offers a wide variety of apparel and accessories.

“We try to have dressy clothes as well as casual,” Mitteldorfer said. “We have children’s clothing and baby clothes. We have fragrances, body lotions, soaps, jewelry and clothing.”

Mitteldorfer used the move from Smithfield to expand and overhaul her merchandise. “We have definitely got all new inventory,” she said. “We did want to ramp it up some and get a little more colorful.”

The boutique plans to resume its paint-and-sip classes at some point, Mitteldorfer said. “We will be having paint classes, sip and paint, and stuff like that,” she said. “We’ll be doing those in a room in the back. But for right now, that room is our clearance room of items that we’re trying to just get rid of.”

The boutique is a family affair. “My husband and I are both in the business together,” Mitteldorfer said. “My daughter, Alyssa, helps. My mom, Carolyn, helps me a lot, and then my son, Tanner, is like the website master.”

She has received positive feedback about the move, Mitteldorfer said. “The reaction has been great,” she said. “I’ve had so many phone calls and messages saying, ‘Welcome home,’ and that really gets to my heart.”

Christy’s Boutique will open its doors on July 3, with its grand opening on July 6. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.  For more information, visit Christy’s Boutique on Facebook.
