    Heat dangers and how to avoid them

    PRINCETON, WV (WV) – Temperatures are high throughout the summer, and it is not only the sun you have to look out for, it is also the hidden facts of heat exposure.

    Heat exhaustion can lead to a heat stroke quickly. Physicians encourage the community to take breaks as often as possible. Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for WVU Princeton Community Hospital, Mark Pickett, said heat index’s can also be silent but deadly.

    “The heat index is really important for people to be aware of because of the impact it can have on our bodies,” said Pickett.

    Pickett says that hydration is key to staying cool and safe. Taking breaks inside or finding shade are also quick fixes to rid you of overheating.
