Active duty military member charged with sexual assault, missing West Virginia teen found with him

PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) — An active duty military member from Connecticut was arrested and charged with sexual assault.

According to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday, July 7, 2024, deputies responded to the Microtel Suites in Princeton where they arrested Richard Nolan Tillotson, 24, of Connecticut. During the arrest, a missing 13-year-old girl from Monroe County was found with him.

The teenage girl has since been released back into the custody of her family.

Investigators confirmed to news outlets that Tillotson is an active duty military member. While the branch of service was not confirmed, it was said that Tillotson had been stationed outside of the country and was stateside temporarily.

Richard Tillotson was charged with nine counts of Sexual Assault in the Third Degree.

The investigation into the incident remains active.
