    New Summit Christian Academy to open its doors in Fall 2024

    PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) – There will be a new school opening its doors in Mercer County during the fall of 2024.

    Bluefield University awards scholarships to local students

    Johnston Chapel Baptist Church in Princeton will be opening Summit Christian Academy which will be housed inside its church.

    It will offer a Christ-centered education for grades 5 through 12 as well as many different athletic opportunities.

    The sports teams they are forming include: soccer, baseball, basketball, cross country, track and field, volleyball, robotics, as well as an option for horse lovers.

    Principal Dr. Kathy Hawks told 59News, “As of the night of Tuesday, July 16, 2024, we were able to finalize an agreement with Carousel Farms, an equestrian farm, and we’re going to have an equestrian team.”

    Their mascot will be the Falcons. As of July of 2024, they have somewhere between 115 and 120 students enrolled for the fall.

    Families will be paying a tuition, but Principal Dr. Hawks said there are scholarships, like the Hope Scholarship, available to assist students.
