Police presence in Rock Island near Poor Boys Pizza & Pub
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - One person was hospitalized and another is in custody after an incident Wednesday at a pub in Rock Island. TV6 is on scene outside of Poor Boys Pizza & Pub, 4121 18th Avenue, where crime scene tape can be seen along with multiple police officers.
Spook the Loop to return to Geneseo with special guest
GENESEO, Ill. (KWQC) - Geneseo will be hosting its second Spook the Loop event on August 10 with special guest Butch Patrick. Patrick, a former resident of Geneseo, is known as Eddie Munster from the classic Munsters TV sitcom, according to a media release. He lived above a downtown storefront and attended school at St. Malachy Elementary School. He also attended the event in 2023.
Longtime Downtown Mendota Bar And Grill Is Closing
A staple of downtown Mendota for more than 3 decades is soon to be closing its doors. Owners Dave and Joanne McNally announced that they will be closing Main Street Station Bar & Grill after Saturday, August 24th. The announcement says “A lot of thought has been put into this decision and it was not an easy choice to make”. The owners say they're looking forward to having a chance to travel and enjoy time with their family.

PEORIA (25News Now) - Metamora’s Anna Peplowski has dove into the swimming for thousands of youth, high school and college swim races. Tomorrow, she dives in the the biggest swimming pool in the world- the Olympics. Peplowski is set to swim in the 4x200 USA Swim Relay tomorrow with two goals--help USA qualify for the finals and individually post one of the top two prelim times to advance to the 4 x 200 finals. Prelims are set to begin at 5:05 am Peoria time with the finals at 3:03 pm. NBC will have live coverage and replays of the prelims Thursday morning and the finals Thursday prime time.

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Pleasant Valley School District #62 is making sure its students have all the resources they need this school year. A book carnival was held at Pleasant Valley Intermediate School on Richwoods Boulevard in Peoria on Wednesday. (SPRINGFIELD) Congratulations to a Richland County school administrator as the Illinois Principals Association (IPA) has announced that Cris Edwards, principal of Richland County Elementary School in Olney, will serve as President of the IPA for the 2024-2025 school term. A member of the Illinois Principals Association since 2007, Edwards has most recently served as the State Director for the Wabash Valley region and a member of the IPA Board of Directors, plus she was named Illinois Elementary Principal of the Year in 2023, received the Wabash Valley “Reaching Out & Building Bridges” award in 2021, and the Wabash Valley Herman Graves award in 2019. Edwards began her career in education in 1992 as a Language Arts & Current Events teacher in Tuscon, Arizona, moving to Edwards County High School in Albion as Economics, Government, & Language Arts teacher and on to Parkview Junior High School in Lawrenceville as Social Sciences teacher before becoming an administrator in the Richland County School District in 2007.

Peoria Public Schools starts new school year with changes
PEORIA, Ill. – Though it shows July on the calendar with the summer heat hanging around, a new school year starts Wednesday for Peoria Public Schools. With a new year about to begin, a couple things will be different for the more than 12,600 students enrolled at PPS.
