High flying excitement is coming soon to Prineville with the return of the Wild Ride Brew MX13 Jump Show Fundraiser.

Picture the best freestyle motocross riders in the sport pulling off multiple tricks and flips while flying up to 40 feet high.

“It’s X Games-level, top riders in the world, having a free event for families,” said longtime rider and event organizer Justin Homan. “Kids just love it.”

The jump shows originated in Redmond several years ago, when Wild Ride Brew approached Homan about hosting a jump show. The early shows generated enough interest and revenue that the events started to break even, prompting Homan to consider making future events fundraisers and use the money to benefit local organizations. He also turned to the Redmond Rotary club, of which he is a member, asking them to find good causes to support.

Once Wild Ride launched a Prineville location, it opened the door for a similar event locally. Homan reached out to Crook County Rotary for organizations to support, and the first event was held in 2022. The Prineville fundraiser supported the Humane Society of the Ochocos last year and this year, the proceeds from the event will go to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Crook County’s food bank.

“They are a way to give back,” Homan explained, who in addition to freestyle motocross operates an AmeriTitle branch in Prineville. “I have had a lot of help with my (motocross) career, just people helping me … have a career for 25 years.”

The fundraising goal for the Prineville event is $5,000, all of which is generated by different business sponsors. Sponsors this year include Republic Services, AmeriTitle, Bigfoot Equipment Rental and Supply, Lifestyle Wake, Central Oregon Pole Buildings, First Interstate Bank, Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty, Les Schwab Tires, Baxter Builders, Pro Caliber, High Desert Property Management, State Farm, Allstate, Waddell, SMAF, Peterson CAT and Sunrise Pool & Spa.

The Prineville event will be held on Thursday, July 25 from 5-8 p.m. Homan said the riders will jump at two different times, with each round lasting about 20 minutes. The jump show takes place along the fence behind the Wild Ride Brew parking lot and business property. Homan acknowledges that it is a tight space, but it provides the necessary 300 feet to accelerate, jump the dirt bikes and come to a stop.

“These ramps are really lofty, so they send you high,” he said.

And spectators are given a close view of the action.

“The goal is that everyone stays on the property – they have a rather large parking lot,” Homan said. He went on note that some of the sponsors will bring trailers or company rigs and place them in the path for the riders to clear. “We try to make it aesthetically pleasing and fun and looking cool.”
