    K9 Searches For Driver After SUV Rolls Over Into Creek In Sanborn

    SANBORN, NEW YORK - Police began an intensive search for the driver of an SUV late Monday night after the vehicle rolled over a guardrail and crashed down an embankment into a creek on Saunders Settlement Road.

    After 11:30 PM on Monday, local law enforcement responded to Saunders Settlement Road between Chew and Walmore Roads after an SUV left the roadway and rolled down an embankment into a creek.

    Lewiston Police and first responders from the Sanborn Fire Company rushed to the crash site after receiving the call. Upon arrival, police officers observed the SUV driver fleeing on foot. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office Canine Unit was requested to aid in tracking down the individual.

    Despite first responders thoroughly searching the vegetation and surrounding area, they found no sign of the fleeing driver.

    The damaged SUV was pulled from the creek and up the embankment. Law enforcement searched the vehicle for evidence to identify the driver.

    Police are currently investigating both the cause of the crash and the reason the driver left the scene.
