Grants Pass Man Fatally Shot Near Apartment Complex
Grants Pass, OR. – Official Release: On July 19, 2024, at about 9:19 PM, Dispatch received multiple emergency calls of a shooting that just occurred in the 1400 block of Rogue River Highway. Additionally, a male victim was in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Grants Pass Police responded to the scene, along with Oregon State Troopers and Josephine County Sheriff Deputies.

Malheur Lumber Company to halt operations after 41 years
JOHN DAY – Malheur Lumber Company, the last remaining commercial sawmill in John Day, has announced it will close down its operations. In their closing letter, the company cited the “lack of a willful/drug free workforce, lack of housing to allow to recruit from outside the area, market conditions of lumber over the last couple of years, cost of manufacturing (due to inflation) and low/inconsistent production (due to lack of employees) and continuing layering of governmental regulations upon small business in Oregon” as being primary factors for the closure.

ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL FUGITIVE THURSDAY
Roseburg Police jailed a fugitive following a traffic stop Thursday afternoon. An RPD report said at 4:45 p.m. officers contacted the 31-year-old man during a traffic stop near the Edenbower Boulevard exit from Interstate 5 northbound. Officers learned he had an active warrant out of the Sutherlin Police Department. The man was placed in handcuffs without incident and was transported to corrections.

The season is over for the youngest Area 4 team in Oregon’s American Legion AAA division, as the Klamath Falls Falcons missed out on the postseason by one game.
